Is Azimuth safe to download?
Azimuth is not certified malware-free by this site. Its itch page discloses AI-assisted code, and the developer's progress post identifies itch.io as the official source. That post warns about a patched, renamed Azimuth 0.9.9 packaged as an FM5 builder and says redistribution, modification or renaming requires permission.
An official source is not a malware-free guarantee. If security software blocks a file, keep protection enabled and ask the security vendor to assess the detection. A missing azimuth-tls.dll can be consistent with an incomplete extraction or quarantine, but that alone does not establish a false positive or justify restoring it.
Checks that are real
- The host is almost-there-games.itch.io.
- The file name on 2026-10-24 was azimuth-windows.zip, about 2.8 MB, version 0.9.10.
- The zip is a wrapper. A download that claims to include the full game is not the official package.
- No official SHA-256 is printed on the checked itch page. A third-party hash may identify a file, but is not an official authentication reference.
What this page will not do
The 0.9.10 devlog says errors now identify files blocked by Smart App Control or security software. That is an error-reporting improvement, not a statement that every detection is a false positive. This page does not provide scanner-bypass or quarantine-restoration instructions.
Beware of copied PowerShell installation instructions
The Extra Options README warns of fake FH2/mod installation tutorials that install a keylogger and says it has no All-In-One tutorial. Do not paste commands from an unsolicited tutorial into PowerShell. This is the community project's warning, not evidence that the official Azimuth zip contains that threat.
A modified wrapper is outside support. The developer posted that directly. PSA.
Questions
Does the developer publish a virus scan?
No official scan report or SHA-256 was found on the pages checked on 2026-10-24. The official distribution source helps establish provenance, but this site has not audited the binary or certified it as safe.
Why did antivirus flag it?
A detection alone does not establish whether a file is malicious or a false positive. Keep protection enabled, record the detection name and exact source, and ask the security vendor to assess it. Do not automatically restore or allowlist a quarantined file just because a forum says it works.
Should I download azimuth-windows.zip from another site?
No. The same file name on another site is exactly the pattern the developer warned about. Size and version text can be copied. The itch page is the check.
