Before updating or downgrading
Back up saves first. The 0.9.6 notes say older versions cannot read the converted save. The 0.9.9 notes require the existing data folder to be present before the first start for save migration. The 0.9.10 notes say saves carry over unchanged, but shaders and pipelines rebuild once. See the save guide before moving an installation.
