Azimuth save location and migration

Update 0.9.9 moved saves into per-game directories and backs them up before migration. Keep your existing Azimuth folder, or copy its data folder into the new installation before the first start. Old saves copied in afterwards are not picked up. 0.9.9 notes. The checked official pages do not print a complete save path.

Back up the entire existing Azimuth data folder with the game closed. For the 0.9.9 migration, keep the existing wrapper folder or copy its data folder into the new wrapper folder before the first launch. The developer explicitly warns that old saves copied in after that migration are not picked up.

Those relative paths come from a community save-transfer thread, not the official manual. Direct HTTP access to that thread was blocked during this audit, so the paths remain unverified here. They are relative to the wrapper directory; <title-id> is a placeholder, not a folder name to type. Preserve the full data folder rather than guessing a title ID.

Before upgrading an older save

  1. Close Azimuth and copy the entire existing data folder to a separate backup location.
  2. Keep the current wrapper folder for the upgrade, or copy data into the new wrapper folder before its first start. Do not launch the new folder first and then expect the old-layout saves to migrate.
  3. Let the documented migration run, check your progress, and keep the backup until it is confirmed.

The 0.9.6 notes also warn that its save conversion cannot be read by 0.9.5. The 0.9.10 notes say saves carry over unchanged. Keep backups instead of using a downgrade as a migration fix.

Moving to another PC

  1. As an editorial backup precaution, use the same Azimuth version on both machines and close the game on both.
  2. Copy the existing data folder and retain a second untouched backup. Put the copy in the destination wrapper folder before launching it.
  3. Select the same supported game build, launch and check progress. Do not merge title directories or overwrite the only copy of a save if the layout differs.

The developer documents the upgrade migration, not a separate cross-PC transfer wizard. The copying checklist is a cautious backup workflow, not a tested transfer guarantee.

Questions

Where are screenshots stored?

The itch page and the 0.9.9 devlog do not document a screenshot directory. We could not verify a path, so this page does not invent one.

Can I import an Xbox save?

The checked official instructions do not document Xbox cloud-save importing. This audit did not verify a community importer or its compatibility. Do not treat a third-party import tool as an official feature; retain an untouched backup.
