Azimuth versus Xenia

The Xenia README describes an experimental Xbox 360 emulator; its site is xenia.jp. The Azimuth page documents a Windows and Proton wrapper for the Xbox One FH2 family. They target different console builds, not interchangeable game files.

Choose by the platform of the game files, not by an assumed speed advantage. This site has not run a side-by-side performance test, so it does not rank frame rates, graphics quality or input latency.

	Azimuth	Xenia
Kind	Wrapper / compatibility layer	Xbox 360 emulator
Horizon 2 build	Xbox One 1.0.0.64	Xbox 360; title ID 4D530AA4
Who ships it	Almost There Games, itch.io	Xenia project
Game files included	No	No
Word "recomp"	Inaccurate for Azimuth	Not what Xenia calls itself

What the Xenia compatibility entry actually establishes

The FH2 tracker entry #514, checked 2026-10-24, is titled "4D530AA4 - Forza Horizon 2". It has a state-gameplay label, but also gpu-drawing-missing and kernel-unimplemented-feature labels. Its original report and later labels are not a current benchmark or a promise of complete playability. Consult the tracker and Xenia Quickstart for its own setup.

No automatic save or online compatibility

Different console builds do not establish interchangeable saves. This guide does not claim a supported cross-tool save transfer. The official Azimuth build is offline with no achievements; a separate community multiplayer patch does not make Xbox Live or Xenia part of Azimuth.

Questions

Is Azimuth a recomp?

No. Video titles sometimes say recomp. The itch page describes a wrapper: the game's x86-64 code runs, and system calls are translated. That is not a console recompile and not Xbox 360 emulation.

Can Xenia run the Xbox One game?

Xenia targets Xbox 360. It does not run Xbox One titles. Azimuth does not run 360 titles.
