Can Azimuth play Forza Horizon 2 online?

The itch page is explicit: no Xbox Live, offline play, no multiplayer, no achievements. Forza Support dates the online shutdown to 2023-08-22. Forza Support.

FH2MP is an unofficial community project, not Xbox Live or an Almost There Games service. Its README describes a replacement server that never contacts Microsoft or Xbox Live. The Azimuth developer does not support modified wrappers. Mods may conflict with applicable license terms; check those terms and keep a stock installation.

The README says the launcher downloads missing dependencies from their authors' GitHub releases with SHA-256 checks. On Linux it selects the newest Proton found in the usual Steam folders and uses WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm,d3dcompiler_47=n,b". The project author reports testing on Proton-CachyOS 11; this site has not repeated that test. FH2MP. Known issues, including some Rivals records, are in that repository.

What the community project claims to restore

The FH2MP README lists Online Free Roam, races, Road Trip, Car Clubs, Rivals, leaderboards, and paint/tune sharing. These are project-author claims, not features tested by this site or restored official servers. Check KNOWN_ISSUES.md before installing.

Account and bug-report precautions

The launcher stores a secret account key in the OS keyring and gives a recovery code; keep that code private. The README requests Azimuth, shim and platform logs for FH2MP issues. Send mod-related problems there, not to the Azimuth developer. This site has not tested online sessions or the update/signature checks.

Questions

Did Microsoft turn the servers back on?

No. Forza Support says Horizon 2 online services ended on 2023-08-22. Azimuth does not restore Xbox Live.

Is FH2MP part of Azimuth?

No. It is a community patch with its own README. The Azimuth developer does not support modified wrappers.
